Six Little known people who drastically changed the world

We all know Gates, Jobs, A.G. Bell, Gandhi, Churchil, they were all agents of changed, who worked against all odds and changed the world for good and left us. Here are few who changed the world but are not so well-known to everyone.

Tim Berners Lee

Today a whole lot of people browse the net, send emails, chat with people and even strangers on the other side of the world, watch movies, listen to music, apply for jobs, pay bills, shop, do just about everything online. And all because one man, Tim Berners Lee. He is father of WWW(World Wide Web) and guess what he made it available to all for free.

Jonas Salk

He developed the first successful inactivated the polio vaccine and didn’t get it patented. That could have made him mega rich but he chose not to. In this way he saved millions of lives who couldn’t have afforded the vaccine had it been patented.

In an interview Edward Murrow asked who owns the patent and his reply was:
“Well, the people, I would say. There is no patent. Could you patent the sun”. What a noble gesture!!

Vasili Alexandrovich Arkhipov

During the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, second-in-command Vasilli Arkhipov of the Soviet submarine B-59 refused to agree with his Captain’s order to launch nuclear torpedos against US warships and setting off what might well have been a terminal superpower nuclear war.  When discussing the Cuban missile crisis in 2002, Robert McNamara, who was U.S. Secretary of Defense during the crisis, stated that “we came very close” to nuclear war, “closer than we knew at the time.”

Nikola Tesla

Some will say he is well known and he is but among a group of people. He should be a known name to every one. The guy invented alternating current, the magic that happens behind every socket. It’s the electrical system that runs virtually every house on the face of the planet, laid the groundwork for wireless communications through the invention of the Tesla Coil, He also invented VTOL aircraft (designs which the modern US Marines’ Osprey craft were based on). Well I can go on and on, so I would suggest read: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/tesla

Alan Mathison Turing

He provided an influential formalization of the concept of the algorithm and computation with the Turing machine. Without him , there wouldn’t have been any computers nor any programming language . He formulated Turing Test, which tests intelligence of computer. He was a genius without a doubt, it is a shame he had to commit suicide because he was a homosexual.

Alexandra Scott

Yes that is a kid and that’s not because we did not have her photo as adult but because she died at the age of 8.

She was born in 1996 and was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer, shortly before she turned 1. in 2000, at 4, she told her mother that she wants to raise money by starting a lemonade stand for doctors to “help other kids”. She raised $2k and led to the creation of the Alex’sLemonade Stand Foundation.  This foundation raised $ 60 Million towards cancer research.
HATS OFF!!!

Living up to potential by being weird

Why are you in fear? What exactly is it that you fear?

In a world where you have limited time you are already naked and you do not have anything to be ashamed of. The problem is if you are being yourself people will perceive that you are weird. If you are easy going, you will be taken for granted. And the list never ends. But wait and ask yourself that does what other think of you mattes at all?

What you think of yourself matters; Worst part to note is you keep forgetting it. Your dreams are bartered in return of fulfilling needs. Living life up to people’s expectations, maintaining social status becomes sole purpose of existence. And no matter how many times you think of moving forward to your goal, some asshole will always make you step back by telling you REPERCUSSIONS of your actions. You trade in your reality for a role.

Do you realize that people love you for what you have achieved and not for who you truly are, so you do not have to worry about what they think. If I quote Jim – “Where is your will to be weird?”

You believe in change, you want a revolution, guess what it’s not going to happen and the reason is there within you. Everyone talks about it nobody likes it, we are afraid of losing what we have if things change. So what if it is inevitable, we still do not like it.

These fears they will keep you down and will make sure that you stay there forever, except if you choose to accept it, Face it, fight it. I am not willing to give up what I am for what you can turn me into. Do I sound like a jerk? Then finally I am living up to my potential.
